Judges Deny Milosevic Request to Seek Medical Treatment in Russia

<DIV>In a decision apparently rendered yesterday evening, Judges in the Milosevic case denied his request to be provisionally released to seek medical treatment in Russia.&nbsp; At this morning's trial session, Milosevic opened by remarking, "I consider this a highly unjust decision."&nbsp; Presiding Judge Robinson immediately cut Milosevic's comments short, but not before the Accused insisted that he would take up the matter with the Appeals Chamber of the ICTY. </DIV>
<DIV><BR clear=all>Milosevic has always decried the legitimacy of the Tribunal and its rules and Russia has been known to harbor ICTY suspect-fugitives - including extending an official welcome to Milosevic's one-time co-accused General Dragolub Ojdanic in 2000 who appeared publicly in Red Square after he was indicted.&nbsp; Milosevic's former police general Vlastimir Djordjevic is also believed to be currently hiding in Russia and another suspect, Dragan Zelenovic is currently being held by Russian authorities pending transfer to the ICTY.&nbsp; </DIV>
