Mianeh Project

Mianeh is an independent web-based initiative intended to create an open space for ideas, analysis and debate coming out of Iran.

This IWPR-run project is designed to bring fresh insights and ideas to Iranian and international readers, with articles and audio stories produced by journalists, writers and analysts inside the country.

Mianeh is open to any writer, regardless of experience, who has something interesting and valuable to say and who is prepared to respect professional standards of journalism.

The material published reflects a mix of debate, analysis and features, and seeks to maintain political balance and objectivity.

The articles are commissioned from Iran in an editorial process consisting of one-to one training and support for the author.

The parallel English version of each story is translated and edited sympathetically, with a view to informing readers abroad who want to get behind the headlines on issues ranging from the Iranian government's nuclear dispute with the West to domestic political and social concerns.

Mianeh is also producing audio podcasts in Farsi, with transcripts and audio also available in English.

All published articles and podcasts are on the Mianeh site (www.mianeh.net) and disseminated to an international audience via a free email subscription. A selection of the best pieces will be highlighted on IWPR's own site.
