Coalition for International Justice (CIJ) Trial Reports Archive

The Coalition for International Justice was established in 1995 in Washington, D.C. and The Hague, The Netherlands to support and promote the work of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and the International Criminal Court for Rwanda (ICTR). CIJ provided assistance to the tribunals in the form of monitoring, legal and technical assistance, analysis and critiques, advocacy and public education. In 2000, CIJ expanded its work to include the development and operations of the Special Court for Sierra Leone, the Serious Crimes Unit in East Timor and the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia. CIJ also led efforts to document atrocities in Darfur, Sudan between 2004 and 2006.

When CIJ closed in 2006, it donated its searchable Trial Reports Archive to IWPR in recognition of our own reporting work and to ensure these courtroom reports would remain available to the public electronically.

Archives of some of CIJ's other reports and work not involving trial reporting, are available at:

Follow-the-Money 101 Guide: http://www.usip.org/; Following Taylor's Money: http://www.douglasfarah.com/; Darfur Chronology: http://www.africaaction.org/; Unfilled Promises: Justice in East Timor: http://www.justiceinitiative.org/.

Milosevic and other ICTY Trial Reports

The CIJ archive below represents the most comprehensive collection of ICTY courtroom reporting by independent legal observers available anywhere. CIJ provided in-depth legal analysis of the Milosevic Trial at the ICTY from its first day until Milosevic's final courtroom appearance. Based on her daily presence in the courtroom, CIJ's Legal Liaison Judith Armatta chronicled, explained and analyzed the complex legal and evidentiary issues involved in one of the most important international criminal trials in history, from its opening day in Februaryruary 2002. These trial reports were posted on CIJ's website and are available in both English and BCS. All of Ms. Armatta's reports, as well as those of Edgar Chen, who followed her in 2005, appear below in a searchable archive of reports. In addition to the Milosevic trial reports, the archive includes a number of reports from other trials. All are searchable by term.
